Capital Area Ski Touring Association
The Capital Area Ski Touring Association is a family club for cross-country ski enthusiasts of all ages in the Capital District. Twice monthly meetings are held from October through March at the Church of the Good Shepherd in Green Island. Organized activities include potluck suppers, Saturday ski outings, weekend trips, and weeklong adventures. This season, CASTA members plan to enjoy the snow in New York, Vermont and Massachusetts, as well as Canada, Austria and Yellowstone-Jackson Hole.
New skiers, or those who wish to brush up on their skills, should consider the Saturday trips, where a more experienced member will be on hand to conduct lessons. Visit www.nycasta.com, which will give you a good feel for the club. Primary emphasis is on enjoyment and fun, whether you prefer easier or more challenging terrain.
